Zodiac signs are part of astrology, which is the belief that the positions of the sun, moon, and planets at the time of your birth can influence your personality, emotions, and even life path.

There are 12 zodiac signs, and each one is linked to a certain time of year. These signs are based on the position of the sun as it moves through the sky (what’s called the “zodiac belt”) over the course of a year.

Each sign has:

1. A symbol (often an animal or mythological figure)
2. A specific element (Fire, Earth, Air, or Water)
3. A modality (Cardinal, Fixed, or Mutable), which shows how the sign interacts with the world
